Herbal Relief for Rosacea
This chronic skin rash that resembles facial acne usually occurs in adults with fair skin. Since the onset of rosacea is between the ages of 30 and 50, and is found much more often in women than men, there is some speculation that it may be triggered by imbalances of the hormones estrogen and progesterone.(14)
Research indicates that one cause of rosacea may actually be an infection triggered by a mite that infests the sebaceous ducts. Another source of infection and inflammation may be bacterial. Regardless of how the condition begins, astragalus supplementation can boost the immune system and help resolve the inflammation and infection that result in unsightly rosacea blemishes.(14)
There is also some evidence that stress can trigger rosacea. Herbs that help regulate hormonal response to stress, such as astragalus and ashwagandha, may help.(222)
